IPB Insurance was delighted to sponsor the inaugural Mary Robinson Climate Conference in Ballina from the 5-7 July 2023. The conference was part of a number of events taking place for the Ballina 2023 Festival. On the 5 July, as part of the conference programme, IPB hosted a Local Authority Climate Action Staff networking event. This was the Network’s first face-to-face event and IPB were delighted to provide a forum for networking and sharing of ideas with presentations from industry experts. This was followed by a Bike Buffet hosted by Mayo County Council and organised by Ballina Chamber of Commerce.
On the 6 July, IPB hosted a panel discussion entitled ‘Creating Community Leadership in Climate Action – the Local Authority Role’ which was chaired by Laura Smith, Head of Sustainability, and featured expert panellists such as John McLaughlin, CEO of Donegal County Council and Chair of the CCMA Climate Action, Waste Management, Transport and Networks Committee, John Clendennen, Chair of the IPB Board Sustainability Committee, Laura Dixon Climate Officer Mayo County Council and Sinéad Dooley Head of Public Engagement, Eirgrid. This event helps to deliver on key aspects of the IPB sustainability strategy such as our ‘Commitment to Members’. As a mutual insurer, IPB provides insurance to our Members, who, as Local Authorities, are dedicated to supporting their respective communities. Our commitment to supporting our Members during this transformative period, as they lead the way in climate transition, is important to us and such events help guide us to ensure the products we provide are appropriate to their needs.
