IPB Are Proud Partners of the Local Authority Climate Forum – ‘Agents for Change’ Conference
IPB insurance was delighted to partner with our Member local authorities as we proudly sponsored the Local Authority Climate Forum – ‘Agents for Change’ conference in Portlaoise. Hosted by Laois County Council, this dynamic event brought together Local Authority climate action teams and guest speakers from across the country, all driven by a shared commitment to meaningful climate action.
The day offered an inspiring showcase of the positive steps being taken by our Members to address climate challenges in communities nationwide. Throughout the day, delegates heard first-hand accounts of innovative climate initiatives currently being implemented, each one a testament to the impact Local Authorities can make as agents for change. From community education initiatives to green infrastructure developments, it was evident that local teams are playing a central role in shaping sustainable futures at a grassroots level.
One of the key aims of the day was to provide a collaborative platform where climate action teams could come together to network, share best practices, and explore new climate action opportunities. This goal was met with enthusiasm, as participants engaged in dynamic discussions and exchanged ideas on how to create even more impactful climate strategies.
In addition to insights shared by Local Authorities, attendees were privileged to have guest speakers who offered valuable perspectives on the evolving climate landscape. These speakers emphasised the importance of adaptability and proactive engagement, encouraging each participant to continue pursuing initiatives that align with sustainable development goals as well as empowering is to manage the human behavioural change challenge. Their message was clear: every Local Authority has the potential to drive substantial social and environmental impact.
As partners, IPB is committed to supporting initiatives that empower our Members to lead in the field of climate action. The ‘Agents for Change’ conference was not only a celebration of the incredible work already underway but also a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when we collaborate towards a common purpose.
Together, we look forward to building on the momentum generated to date, supporting Local Authorities as they lead the way towards a more resilient and sustainable Ireland.

LED Light Replacement Programme
In October 2023, IPB replaced almost 400 light fittings in our office with LEDs. This will help reduce our energy consumption and together with landlord-led projects, we can reduce our Scope 1&2 greenhouse gas emissions going forward.
Keep Cups
This year, in an effort to reduce our use of single-use compostable cups, we introduced a Keep Cup campaign for our employees. In the first three quarters of 2023, we have saved over 25,000 compostable cups.
